hi((: right so um eragon review first.
I think it was a little long-winded- he spends an entire chapter 'showing' just one trait of eragon's so you don't know if that chapter is really significant to plot development or if he was just waffling. And what makes you take note is the fact that a lot of eldest is based on the book eragon, so i got lost at some of the parts- i forgot what most of the dwarfish and elvish terms meant! and that was because i waited till borders was having a sale till i went to buy the book. --" which was a long time since I read eragon. and after that, i went on to read the amber spyglass, which fleshed out on the theme of (romantic) love very well compared to the infatuation eragon had with arya. and i think this is because christopher paolini was only 21[?] when he wrote the book, he had nothing to base the eragon/arya relationship on, or rather, a lack of maturity, whereas phillip pullman had two grown-up kids when the book was published, and therefore had more experience writing the will/lyra relationship. andand in my opinion, this was the one book that had a bgr but was not trash! (amber spyglass) more about amber spyglass in another post.
back to eldest. so elissa and i were discussing the parallels between eragon and star wars, and we think that he got a lot of *ahem* inspiration from george lucas. like the part: 'eragon, i am your brother' is a lot like 'luke, I am your father' or 'leia, i am your brother'. but i think star wars is worse because it's incest! and at least with arya, it's an entire race altogether. (she's an elf) ohoh and this young, inexperienced person is mentored by an older, more experienced person= eragon and brom, anakin and obi-wan. and the mentor dies! which occurs in both instances. *sigh* and parallels with his dark materials! eragon has saphira whom he can communicate with <=> lyra has pan, who she can communicate with too! i dont see any evident parallels with harry potter though, so thats good. grr. christopher paolini is such a ripoff.
butbut i am still waiting for the movie! and inheritance. and the OotP movie is said to be released july 17, 2007 in the US. jorowling says that her estimate for the seventh book is then too, and that would be the best early birthday present ever! but then i wouldnt have anything too look forward to after the movie, or which one comes earlier. ): and i would like to watch take the lead and aquamarine (for emma roberts and jojo) and the producers! and i would love to watch grease. or any musical. ahh im concert-deprived. except maybe for classified.

hi(: listening to phantom of the opera on radioblogclub makes me inspired! despite the fact that it is still easter and i am off collecting oyster eggs on kol. phantom of the opera music makes my sister scared. it reminds her of the enchanted mirror in the last scene and the phantom! and the scary music and the falling chandelier. poor thing. so she has gone to sleep now and i can go back to listening but it might make me scared too. i am such a wimp. masquerade is my favorite! it was right after the intermission when I saw it on broadway and there were all these great costumes! and the only song that does not make my sister scared. I am using an excessive amount of exclamation marks on this post. andshort sentences. but short sentences are for dramatic effect! and so are exclamation marks. ah well. using the striped oyster egg with its special abilities to deafeat the boss bat. wish me luck!
grr this is what happened: This is the two-headed bat who runs the Bat Hole. Despite constant arguments with himself which usually leave him with four black eyes. He gets the jump on you.
He sinks four sets of fangs into your tender leg. Ouch squared, dude. Ouch! Ouch! Ooh! Ouch!
You lose 13 hit points.
sigh. how do i defeat the boss bat? and the goblin king? trying to find mosquito netting for the flies in the dark dank and sinister cave. see? im that obsessed with kol.
I wish we could do the phantom of the opera for book day. is it a book? ok today im going to talk about PotO(phantom of the opera) and put the eldest review in my next post because i feel very inspired! (yes i finally finished eldest) you know i have a feeling that hoongyan is sick of all my rants about poto because i kept on emailing and writing letters to her about it weeks after my trip. but a good musical makes you feel! like a good book, it oozes with emotion. like sound of music! which i loved to watch when i was little on the LCD lol. and my mum loves it too. my mum loves poto as much as i do! i first watched it when i was 5 but then all i remembered was the phantom on the boat with swirling mist and the loud noises and the chandelier, which i got scared of -_-" and i fell asleep during most of the show anyway. so the second time i watched it was on broadway in nyc! which was veryvery exhilarating. i mean people had to queue up in the cold just to buy tickets. and before the show, i saw zhener, which was quite surreal. anyway, we only got tickets on the day itself, so we had to sit high up in the theater. and the stairs were so steep and the seats were so narrow (it was an old theater, i forgot the name) that you felt like falling off into the stage, if you get what i mean. pictures weren't allowed, so i cant show you anything): the show began soon enough and i was hooked! I stupidly fell asleep in the middle before intermission- long day+heavy dinner= sleep. but my dad fell asleep for the entire thing! i dunno how he managed that, what with the organ and chandelier and all. wasted ticket. oh and speaking of wasted seats, some people left during intermission! probably to get transport early but you dont miss the second half just to flag a taxi 0.o and after intermission I saw masquerade! yup and then after the show, of course they got a standing ovation. people in singapore dont know how/dont give standing ovations for ANYTHING. except for perhaps an electrico concert. when I watch stuff, only a few expats stand up. then my mum enthu-ly stands up too! but that's about it.
going to sleep now! more on poto later. andand i must remember to put up your links, adeline and goh hong. and stay tuned for my eldest review!

*whew* its been a long time. well not that long if you consider my past between-post breaks. i really don'tknow what to talk about. really really really. I don't know who reads my blog, i mean besides the people who tag-- the people whom im not supposed to know that you're reading. and that person might just be you! whaha. but i read blogs that I am not supposed to! but if you blog, you have to assume that the entire world can see whatever you're writing, right? so sometimes I have these really long post pages and pages long all in my head, but it goes through my very rigid self-censorship rules, and be comes a paragraph. how pathetic. and it looks even more pathetic because my blog has a small font and column-like layout, which makes everything look small! I am reduced to writing nothing but crap.
OotP will be released on July17th! this is good friday, am going to larissa's later to do english pt--not a lot of progress has been made.>< anyway, got to go

Got this from adeline:

What's your inner power? (Girls only sorry. Beautiful anime pictures, lengthy results)

Uniqueness- Your inner power is Uniqueness! You are very different from everyone around you, and you like it that way. In fact, youd be furious if you were anything else. To the world outside you are a buoyant, fun loving person, and are probably pretty popular. Yet deep down you feel the urge to be accepted as who you are, and desperately want someone who is truly there for you. You are very indecisive and change your mind regularly over just about anything. Youre very opinionated, and bulldoze over anyone who doesnt share your views. At times you can be very depressed, though few people realise it with your animated personality. You are great fun to be around, and enjoy shocking people with your out there views and beliefs. At times however, your urge to be different can work against you, as people dont often enjoy their ideas of right and wrong having any shades of grey. But dont let them get to you; youre an awesome person who many love. You have no doubt heaps of friends, but dont always have that close friend/s that you want and need. You strive to be accepted for who you are, and are protective and loyal to those who earn your trust. Although at times you think there may be no one there, look around. There is someone in the shadows who desperately wants to be your friend, who maybe you just havent noticed. Dont let anyone get you down, youre the one who gives this boring world excitement and culture. Keep it up! Boy/Girl who will sweep you off your feet: Someone different and independent. Someone who isnt your typical male/female, who can accept that not everything has to be black and white, and yes, there are many, many shades of grey. Your stone/jewel: Amethyst Your power: Difference/Change. This is the ability to make a difference in the world, to create new ideas and opinions, and to open up the minds of others to show that there is more than one shade of grey. Your element: Electricity/Lightening A quote that applies to you: "Id much rather to be hated for who I am than loved for who Im not."
Take this quiz!

sfa tomorrow>< will go to sleep soon.

before I blog, I come up with things that i am going to blog about and its all nicely organised in my head, but when I actually come to the computer and start typing, it just doesn't come out! hehe im thinking of the constipation joke- have you heard about the constipation joke? it hasn't come out yet! I know it's lame>< ah well. maybe I'll do a chapter story! that'll be fun. oh and i've joined KoL! im lily_enc, a noodle neophyte (whatever that is) level 3.

the beginning
She was sitting on a park bench, with her legs tucked underneath her. A notebook was on her lap, and she was writing beneath the light of a street lamp. It was night, and all was silent, the clouds masking a full moon. She had been writing here every night for a month, and had not noticed another in her presence. She needs company, he thought, and to be welcomed and accepted. She needed a coven. He ran his toungue over his teeth and grinned to himself. It is time. He approached with noiseless steps as he wet his lips and felt his canines, sharp to a point. Leaning over and pushing her hair aside, he bit. A scream pierced the silent night.

I think that there are waay too many short sentences. and it's very short I know. will go read fics for inspiration.

i dont know how to start. im not very happy with myself. i havent been since p3 really. not happy with what i am doing and not happy with what i have done for myself--not much, come to think of it. I have a feeling that this is the first angsty post that i have ever posted in my life lol. Crystal says that angst is so fake--i think angst in fanfics are uhm overdone. the whole point of this blog was to post about my day and how great it was because i thought because its on the www, anybody can read it, right? And now my blog isn't publicised very well- i dont intend to do that any sooner as least until i can come up with regular, good quality blogposts. My grammar is wonked. either its looong run-on sentences or short boring ones. that is because i haven't written in a long time. I used to be able to come up with a proper poem in 1/2 an hour but now its 4 lines in an hour. this is pathetic. I feel guilty. guilty for not practising hard enough when i knew I could, guilty for not starting earlier so i could at least have proper sleep last night, guilty or not contributing hard enough. I know i could have done so much better with just some practise, but i don't practise. for some reason, i have become arrogant. my yearmates find it difficult even when they have tried so hard, but i dont try AT ALL. that is how big a wimp I am. Lots of people post like this. they whine and mooch about how bad their day was or how depressed they are-- it gets me depressed because then i feel guilty for not being able to reflect on what i have done and then do something to make it better. I skip the whining part altogether to the stage of acceptance because the more I whine, the sadder i feel. and it doesn't make any difference whether i whine or not because I am just going to get the same results anyway. That's giving up. I know it is wrong to give up and I know that my results aren't anybody's fault but mine and only I am in the position to change them. But I just don't do anything. For the plain reason that i dont feel like.

Music Video Review: Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani

This is the latest video i've seen from Gwen Stefani. It has a cheerleader theme, with Stefani parading in varisity cheerleader costumes cut short. This also features a marching band and oriental-looking cheerleaders who can do great stunts. She has a contant theme of harajuku girls that runs through 'rich girl' and 'what are you waiting for?'. I have only seen this once on Mtv asia, so i guess it is not really that popular. Send comments to elocin12@gmail.com

Arrgh!! today power 98 and perfect 10 are both are playing songs that are remixed to dance songs! I think they play them them on purpose at the same time today to freak rock-lovers out. i mean they made she will be loved sound so irritatingly disgusting...eww. and they remixed breakaway by kelly clarkson-which made it sound horrible. i then went to power98.com for something better, and guess what? they were playing remixes!*pulls hair*now i have resorted to chanels blog... which have better stuff__bwha. oh im listening to good charlotte's i just wanna live-thank you chanel for saving mi saturday night:D
now for song reviews:
+[just right] by jennifer lopez
this is better than stuff she has done-remember the charlie's angels? it has a certain sense of power that I can't place, yet its a song that everybody can groove to.
